About us

 

Three Black Feathers is a new label dedicated to reissuing classic folk albums on high-grade vinyl.

 

Based in Elgar country in the beautiful Malvern hills, we are passionate about our island's contemporary traditional music, and this is allied to a lifelong love of the vinyl format, which we strongly believe to be the best way to experience, listen to and enjoy recorded music. We are committed to the very highest standards in re-releasing great albums on high-quality heavyweight vinyl in limited editions for collectors and audiophiles. Our remastered titles feature fresh interviews with the artists, previously unreleased tracks, exclusive archive photos and original artwork.

 

Where possible, vintage recordings are remastered from the original analogue source tapes, using some of the best engineers in the business, and in the case of more recent recordings the albums will be direct metal mastered (DMM) using the industry's latest technology.

 

To launch the label we have repressed key albums by artists including Nic Jones, Eliza Carthy, Dick Gaughan, Lal Waterson and Martin Simpson, all marking the 70th anniversary of Topic Records, the world's oldest independent record label.

 

Further releases are planned later this year from artists including Shirley Collins, June Tabor and Waterson:Carthy, and future planned releases include titles by Martin Carthy, The Watersons, Anne Briggs and John Tams.
